It's plain and simple, The Blues Orchestra is the areas pre-eminent uptempo blues band. Some would even call them a Rock & Roll Band. They seemlessly blend blues with rock-a-billy, and rhythm & blues to create their unique sound. Listening to The Blues Orchestra is like riding a train from Chicago to Texas with stops in Cincinnati and Memphis.
The Blues Orchestra songlist is heavy with Chicago blues standards but also includes songs by artists as diverse as The Blasters, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, The Blues Brothers, Johnny Winter, Robert Cray, Elvis, Delbert McClinton, Chuck Berry, B.B. King, Jerry Lee Lewis, Dave Edmunds, Buck Owens, & Carl Perkins. Heck, there's even a Johnny Rivers song or two in the setlist. And on any given night you may also catch a set of The Blues Orchestra's original songs. Then throw in some Bo Diddly and of course the required Stevie Ray covers and ..... well, you get the picture. It's all there. The Blues Orchestra wants to get the crowd dancing. (songlist....)
Orchestra News
Blues Orchestra opened for Bernard Allison, Saturday, July 24th, 2010, at The First Annual Lincoln BBQ & Blues Festival at Famous Dave's at SouthPointe Pavilions. The crowd of about 2000 made it clear that they enjoyed The Blues Orchestra despite their "opening act" status.
The Blues Orchestra is working on their first studio album of original material. Songs were penned by Honeyboy, Harvey, and Keith and reflect a wide range of styles including Chicago Blues, Texas blues, and straight ahead Chuck Berry rock & roll. Below is a preliminary mix of one of those tunes called BLUE LIGHT. It's essentially a remake of Hoochie Coochie man with new lyrics that pay tribute to living legend, Buddy Guy and many of the blues greats of the past.
